anchavan Kaadu is a 1971 Indian Malayalam film, directed and produced by Kunchacko. The film stars Prem Nazir, Sathyan, Sheela and Sharada in the lead roles.
The movie is about an uprising(fictional?) against Marthanda Varma. Sathyan is Anandapadmanabhan, the right hand man of Marthanda Varma. At the start of the movie, ettuveettil pillamar (The feudal lords of the eight houses) are being hung for treason. Their womenfolk are forcefully given to the fishermen, thereby making the aristocratic lines extinct. A section of the people are angry at the King for this. Anadapadmanabhan's younger brother Kochu Kurup is in love with Kochu Thankachi, the niece of one of the feudal lords Ramanamadhom Pillai. Kochu Thankachi is the unrecognised daughter of the King. Ragini is Unniyamma, Kochu Thankachi's mother and the one time lover of Marthanda Varma.
There is Sharada who plays Minnu Kutti who dies in a suicide pact with Anandapadmanabhan. The film ends with the death of Kochu Kurup and Kochu Thankachi by gunshots.
